Water for Wetlands: Pumping Efficiency Demonstration
SRCD is excited to announce a special Wetland Water Pumping Efficiency Demonstration which will take place at the workshop from 1:30-3:30PM. The demonstration will be presented by Mr. Bill Green, the Advanced Pumping and Efficiency Program (APEP) Manager at Fresno State University. The program will feature their Pumping Mobile Education Center (PMEC), an enclosed trailer with self-contained pumping units that can test pump efficiency in real time and demonstrate how much it costs for a pump to operate inefficiently. For more information on the Advanced Pumping Efficiency Program visit their website.
As sea levels rise and tides get higher, there is a greater need for drainage through pumping in Suisun Marsh. Sea-level rise predictions suggest an increase of ¾-foot rise by 2050 to 3+ feet by 2100, but storm sea levels will be higher earlier. The effectiveness of gravity drainage will gradually decrease in Suisun Marsh until few parcels will have that option. In the near future, pumping may be the only way to sustain Suisun Marsh seasonal wetland management. Don’t miss out on this unique pumping efficiency demonstration tailored to our landowners in Suisun Marsh! RSVP for the workshop today!
